Developed by Ford Europe to dominate Group A racing, the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1985. Production began in July 1986, with 5,545 units manufactured, including 500 converted into the exclusive RS500 Cosworth. Built at Ford's Genk factory in Belgium, these cars were available in Black, White, and Moonstone Blue.
The Sierra RS Cosworth features a 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve turbocharged engine, producing 204hp and 277Nm of torque. This power enables acceleration from 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 149mph. The car's aerodynamic design, including the distinctive "whale-tail" rear wing, was among the first to generate downforce at speed, enhancing stability and handling.
