We are constantly searching for 70 Series Land Cruisers and finding a decent Troopy is no easy feat. The FJ75 shown here is a rock-solid reliable people hauler. This Land Cruiser features a 4.0L naturally aspirated inline-six petrol engine, manual transmission, with limited luxury or power features. That’s why the Troopys are considered one of the ultimate expedition vehicles. Simple rugged design with fewer moving parts.

This is a left-hand drive example sold new in 1991 as a GCC spec in the country of Oman. We sourced this FJ75 from a Land Cruiser collector and purchased a few from the collection. Oman is in the middle east with extremely dry climate. Older Toyotas are prone to rust issues on the frame and body making rust and rot free Toyotas hard to find. Car Cave completed a full mechanical review so this Troopy is overlanding ready including fully functional AC. Exterior paint is finished in the original Toyota White (color code 045) with black steel bumpers and chrome grill. The interior front passenger compartment has vinyl and cloth Grey Moon Mist original upholstery and rubber mats. We love the basic nature of the troopys with only three gauges shown on the gauge cluster. Keeping it simple! But hey, the AC blows cold and you get power steering and power brakes! The 16” silver steel wheels have a set of Italian made 265/75R16 Pearly X-Line HP tires mounted with good tread depth.

Car Cave’s complete maintenance totaled over $12,000. We performed a full tune-up on the Land Cruiser including oil change, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, heater hoses, clamps, belts, new aluminum radiator with electric cooling fans, and coolant flush. We replaced the manual choke cable for effective operation. The oil pan drain plug had been JB Welded in place so we replaced the complete oil pan. The suspension was worn out due to age and dry climate so we proceed to remove all the leaf springs and replace the bushings and install replace all leaf spring bushings, sway bar links, and Dobinson shocks. The steering was given some love in the form of new driver and passenger tie rods, drag link relay rod rebuild, and an Old Man Emu steering stabilizer then aligned the front end. Driveline had some play so we replaced all the U-joints, motor mounts, and transmission mount. Brake, axle, and hubs were also reviewed with front brake pads, front brake rotors, several lug studs, and a couple axle seals replaced. The interior had new door cards installed on all 4 doors (rear included) and a new window regulator for smooth rolling up and down. We replaced the battery, cleaned and adjusted the carb so it starts great with a slight bit of choke. Contact us to review the complete maintenance invoice and history file.

70 Series are known for their front and rear straight axles. This FJ75 has a power disc brake front straight axle. The rear features the larger 9.5” rear drum brake axle with 4.111:1 gear ratio designed for heavy load capacity. Power steering makes this LC easy to turn and drive. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 180 km/h speedometer and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperate and fuel level.
