Shown here is a Defender 110 Hard Top 3 Door with mostly original paint in great original condition. This Defender was sold new to Direction Departementale Des Services D’incendie ET De Secours L’Ardeche better known as the Ardèche Fire Department on November 25, 1997. Specifically the Defender was in service as a fire department support vehicle in Privas, France until August, 30, 2018. The Ardèche region is in southern France and known for dry climate being located regionally to both Italy and Spain. We could easily recognize upon inspection this Defender lived its life in the dry French southern climate and was stored indoors the majority of its life. Car Cave purchased this Defender from what is believed to by its second owner in Saint-Alban, France where it was being utilized as a service truck. Previous ownership provided us with extensive service records showing a history of proper maintenance. Proper maintenance is vital to keeping your Defender on the road for many years to come. Car Cave did a multi-point inspection and mechanical review of this Defender upon arrival. It needed very little due to its superb maintenance history.
The 1997 Defender 110 300TDI is shown in the factory original paint, LRC390 Portofino Red with a custom Barley fluted interior upholstery. A set of 235/85R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain Tires wrap around a set of black 16" Steel Wheels. The 300TDI diesel engine runs properly, and 5-Speed manual transmission shifts correctly through the gears. The upholstery is a real eye catcher finished in Barley color leather with TDCI fluted front seats, matching rear Barley fluted jump seats, and a premium center console with integrated Marshall Bluetooth speaker. A few tasteful upgrades over the years have been added to this Defender but overall stays very original to its heritage. Upgrades include LED marker lamps, Land Meter pitch/roll meter, window guards, snow cowl, grill guard, and front skid plate. The factory options are pretty typical for a Defender of the era including a rear step, rear defrost, rear wiper, power steering, and power brakes.
