300 TDI Diesel Engine

5 Speed Manual

5 Door Wagon

Well Loved & Maintained

Shown here is a 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 factory built 5 door station wagon which is one of the last 300TDI’s to come off the assembly line. Truly an excellent running and driving Defender. Factory built with the solid and reliable 300TDI 2.5L Turbo Diesel engine and R380 5 Speed manual transmission. The Defender was purchased by Car Cave in Holand from an owner, Willem, who truly loved the Defender. Willem purchased the Defender on January 28, 2017 then completely went through all systems on the Defender. He provided us with a long list of upgrades, repairs, and regular maintenance performed under his ownership. See further down in our description for a detailed list.

This Defender 110 is shown with a Coniston Green (paint code LRC570) exterior featuring a black roof, black wing top chequere plate, black wheels, black front bumper, and black rocker guards. The wheels, chequere plate, bumper, and rocker guards were all removed sand blasted and powder coated by the previous owner. The entire exterior was also resprayed under prior ownership. The interior is finished in a combination of black, grey, and green with the original patterned seats in good condition. The black headliner and sun visors are also new. A set of alloy shift knobs look great in front of all the QSP aftermarket gauges and President Barry CB. The dash binnacle has been replaced, upper dash clean, and a JVC KD-R8718T Bluetooth head unit installed.

A set of 235/85R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain tires wrap around factory 16" Land Rover OEM Alloy Wheels which were sandblasted and powder coated black. The 235/85R16 is our favorite tires size for a Defender and rides great paired with the new Terrafirma suspension. Aftermarket gauges consist of Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, and Voltage. A renewed cubby box is found in the center with glass break tool mounted on the front face. Also center mounted is a fire extinguisher for when your buddies Jeep catches on fire while out on the trail. All the way in the back cargo area is a large mounted steel storage bin, metal jerry can in a holder, and mounted fire extinguisher.

The 300TDI diesel engine runs superbly well with plenty of power, enough I was able to max out the speedometer on the Interstate. The R380 5-Speed manual transmission shifts correctly through the gears with super smooth operation. We completed a complete review of the Defender and all systems were found to be functional. The Defender arrived in excellent mechanical condition although we did do some work under our care. Recent maintenance and upgrades performed by Car Cave include oil pan gasket, power steering pressure line, vacuum pump seal, fuel pump seal, intercooler hose, relocate oil temp sensor, oil change, fuel filter, battery, and alignment. The previous owner did a significant amount of maintenance. He provided a lengthy list which we will translate and paraphrase.

The previous owner started by going through and taking care of any of the typical problem areas of these Defenders. The rear cross member, front outriggers replaced, C-styles (slanted part), all 4 doors stripped and the door frames replaced, and entire back door completely replaced. The rear windows were removed to replace the rear cappings on the tub replaced with galvanized painted parts from reputable supplier. When the chassis repairs were done he prepped the whole chasiss and coated it properly. New Rear Tire Carrier was installed and original OEM Land Rover. All door weather stripping replaced with Land Rover OEM parts. This is important as the OEM parts are softer and close better. Windshield gasket replaced, windshield frame seals, front bulkhead vent seals (and Stainless Steel vent pins), and rear seals between window panels, tub, and roof. Door hinges all new including new hardware. All steel hardware and bushings were replaced with original Land Rover OEM parts including the rear A-Frame. Suspension was updated with Terrafirma shocks and steering stabilizer. Front and rear brakes renewed including calipers, pads, brake discs, flexible brake lines, and copper lines. Front and rear axles were rebuilt and resealed. Headliner and sunvisors are new. CB radio installed with JVC Bluetooth radio also installed. Timing belt, timing tensioner, all radiator hoses replaced with silicone, intercooler hoses replace with silicone (Roose Motor Sport), water pump, Alternator, serpentine belt tensioner, intercooler, and stater were all replaced. Coolant overflow reservoir upgraded to Allisport aluminum and the breather element was upgraded to aluminum. New dash gauge surround with upgraded gauges placed on center dash. New BFG All Terrain tires 235/85R16. Full repaint in original Coniston Green. Front bumper, chequre plate wing tops, wheels, and running board chequere plate were removed, sand blasted, and powder coated black. New clutch, master cylinder, slave cylinder, hose, release bearing, heavy duty clutch fork, and flywheel were installed. Cubby box also updated, towbar renewed (remove, prepped, and repainted), plus fuel sending unit. The previous owner said the Defender rarely left the pavement, slept indoors, routine maintenance was always performed. He changed all the fluids, adjusted the valves, flushed the clutch and brake fluid, check gearbox levels, and partially flushed the coolant (removed radiator for timing so partial refill). Please ask any questions regarding this run down.
