locations and staff in both Europe and the United States. The advertised
vehicle is located at our Zonhoven, Belgium facility. Car Cave has
extensive experience moving vehicles domestically and internationally.
For an additional cost we can handle the entire import process for the
buyer. Our insurance policy is specifically underwritten to allow
vehicles in transport to be fully insured from storage at our overseas
showroom until arriving at our Aiken, SC facility. A full no hassle
white glove delivery can be arranged all the way to your front door with
a South Carolina title. We handle coordinating the full import process
including duties, CBP filing, insurance, bond, ocean transport, inland
transport, storage, EPA documentation, NHSTA documentation,
declarations, port coordination, and title.
The Mercedes-Benz W111 was a chassis code given to a range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles produced between 1959 and 1971, including four-door saloons (1959-1968) and two-door coupés and cabriolets (1961 to 1971).
Production began in late 1960, with the coupé making its debut at the 75th anniversary of the opening of Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart in February of the next year. The convertible followed at the Frankfurt Auto Show a few months later. Almost identical to the coupé, its soft-top roof folded into a recess behind the rear seat and was covered by a tightly fitting leather "boot" in the same color as the seats.
In 1967 Mercedes-Benz updated the 250SE Coupe and Cabriolet with a larger engine and named the models 280SE. These were strictly a two-door design on the W111 platform which used the low grill while the W109 successor used a much larger grill.
With the 280SE Mercedes fitted a larger 2778cc engine which produced 160 bhp. This effectively retired the 300SE’s M189 V8 which had less power. Other slight changes to the 1967 280SE include one-piece hubcaps, different mirrors and an optional wood-veneer dashboard.
The beautiful example we are presenting today was converted into a convertible and restored 8 years ago in Germany at which time she was bought by her current owner. He enjoyed her the past 8 years at his vacation home in the South of Spain.
Well maintained, with some normal signs of wear, she comes with her history file and Belgian classic car registration.
