Presented here is an extremely special GCC spec Land Cruiser with loads of unique options. A great spec Land Cruiser looking for a new home. Not really sure where to start because there are sooooo many cool features not found on the 80 series sold here in the US! The GCC spec (Gulf Cooperation Council) refers to vehicles that are manufactured to meet the regulations of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which includes the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar. The GCC options include a 1HZ diesel, 5 speed manual transmission, part time 4wd, swing open back doors, rear cargo inward facing bench seats, manual cloth front 60/40 bench seat, smooth roof (no roof rack), sub fuel tank, and rear tire carrier.
The Land Cruiser is powered by the bulletproof 1HZ 4.2 L (4,164 cc) diesel inline 6-cylinder 12-valve SOHC (single overhead camshaft) indirect injection diesel with a factory rated 129 HP and 210 foot-pound of torque. The 1HZ was used in Land Cruisers for 17 years due to the reliability and simplicity of its design. This 1HZ was upgraded with an aftermarket turbo and top mounted intercooler which highly increased its power output. The sound is amazing through the side exit exhaust. A factory H150F 5 speed manual transmission and a hi/low range transfer case that features part time 4wd. In contrast all of the US spec 80 series had an automatic transmission and full time four wheel drive. The axle code shows a K292 which translates to a 9.5” 4:100:1 2 Pinion differential putting traction to the ground.
The exterior of this Land Cruiser is finished in the factory original Dark Emerald Green Pearl (Toyota Color Code 6M1). Visually from the front you will see a large and in charge aluminum offroad bumper but also notice the “slick roof” which does not have a factory roof rack or moonroof. Swing Open Back (aka Ambulance Doors) Doors, aftermarket offroad bumper, and a tire carrier can be seen from the rear of the vehicle. The rear mounted spare tire allows for a factory Sub Fuel tank (secondary fuel tank) mounted between the frame rails and behind the rear axle. Yes, you read that correctly… this Land Cruiser was built with two fuel tanks from the factory! We filled the secondary tank up with fuel prior to typing this up and found the fuel gauge located overhead to be functional and fuel pumping properly.
On the interior there are several GCC features. The upholstery is a combination of grey cloth with a patterned insert with dark grey carpets. The front seats are manually adjusted, an added bonus for any 80 series owner who has suffered through replacing the power seat gears. There is no middle console to be found as the front seat is a 60/40 split bench bringing the overall seating capacity to 10. The dash is simplified due to the lack of factory airbags and some changes in features. An overhead altimeter and sub fuel gauge can be found above the manual transmission shifter. The cargo area passengers can ride in comfort with inward facing bench seats for a total of 4 people (again. total vehicle seating capacity of 10) and a rear air conditioner. Please note: the rear cargo seating does not have seat belts as it was built this way from the factory.
