This is the second unicorn we’ve captured after a worldwide hunting expedition for a 105. Left-hand-drive, rugged, simple, reliable and equipped with a solid front axle - unique in a 100 Series. The 105 is essentially an 80 series chassis with a 100 series body which makes servicing and upgrading this platform extremely viable in the US. The soul of this 105 Land Cruiser stays true to the original Land Cruisers built in 1951, featuring front and rear solid axles, a manual transmission, and straightforward analog gauges. Under the hood lies arguably Toyota’s most reliable powerplant ever produced; the legendary 1HZ 4.2L inline-six diesel, built to survive a nuclear holocaust.

Car Cave sourced this 105 out of the Middle East. It is a GCC (Gulf Corporation Council) model manufactured in Japan. The GCC required certain features due to the regional laws and climate conditions, including a mandatory fire extinguisher which is still in the vehicle. A mechanical review was not completed on this vehicle, and it is being sold As-Is. Car Cave recommends a full mechanical review before driving on the street. We have only driven this vehicle around the property and installed a new battery. No other checks or service was completed. The Land Cruiser starts, runs, drives, and stops which is documented in our walk around video. This Land Cruiser is being sold As-Is; a running and driving project.
The 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ105 bridges the mechanical toughness of the 80 Series with the refinement of the 100. Equipped with Toyota’s legendary 1HZ naturally aspirated diesel engine, this Land Cruiser embodies reliability and mechanical simplicity. Limited electronics, no complexity, just rock-solid reliable Toyota engineering. Paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and part-time four-wheel drive, the HZJ105 is built for global travel, backcountry exploration, and everyday use.
The exterior is finished in The original Natural White accented by a two-tone bumpers and side body graphics. Immediately, Toyota fanboys will notice the rear ambulance doors (SOB – swing open back) and rear tire carrier not found on the US spec 100 Series. This is also a slick roof featuring no roof rack or sunroof.
Inside, the cabin is the original interior with patterned light oak cloth upholstery and shades of browns in the carpet and trim. A few GCC feature can be found inside including no sunroof (slick roof), dual fuel tank switch, and a clutch pedal with a 5-speed. Features include air conditioning, manual cloth seats, power windows, power mirrors, central locking, power steering, and power disc brakes. The overall presentation remains faithful to Toyota’s utilitarian ethos — comfortable, simple, and built to last. Car Cave did not recondition the interior or exterior of the vehicle. There are various door panels removed and trim pieces.
