Originally a standard Fiat 500 (chassis no. 110F6146156), this car underwent a full restoration by prior ownership in Europe, including a respray, interior, and a long list of Abarth-inspired mechanical upgrades. Recently, the engine was completely rebuilt here at Car Cave by our in-house technicians. As with all our inventory, it also received a full mechanical review and was test-driven extensively —because we believe in getting to know every car before we offer it for sale.
Under the rear deck lid is a freshly rebuilt 650cc 2-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and breathing through a single carburetor with a sport-tuned exhaust. A 4-liter Abarth oil pan and uprated cooling ensure it’s happy at speed. With around 50 horsepower in such a lightweight package, this car is more than capable of ear to ear grins while rowing through gears.
The suspension has been lowered and fitted with Koni shocks, while four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes provide plenty of stopping power for a car this size. It rolls on period-correct 12” Campagnolo-style cross-lace alloy wheels wrapped in 155/70R12 Falken rubber. Offered with the sale is an additional set of 10” steel wheels with Falken 165/70R10 steel belted radial tires. Inside, the deep red upholstery contrasts beautifully with the Aquamarine Blue exterior, and details like a Luisi 3-spoke racing wheel, racing-style wood shift knob, and fire extinguisher round out the track-inspired cockpit.
And the history? Let’s just say this car’s inspiration punched far above its weight. The original Fiat-Abarth 595 was so dominant in its class that it was eventually banned from competition—too fast, too light, and too good for the more expensive cars it embarrassed. The SS (Sprint Speciale) version pushed even further with hotter cams, bigger carbs, and wilder styling, making it one of the most iconic giant-killers of its era.
This particular tribute was part of a Boston-based private collection before being acquired by Car Cave and has been kept indoors. It still shows well, but let’s be honest, once you're behind the wheel hammering through gears, you won't be thinking about paintwork. Whether you're looking for a fun and fiery weekend toy, a standout at your local car show, or a classic racer, this little Scorpion rates far above its weight class.
