This 1995 AM General Hummer Wagon has been on a 2500 ranch here in Aiken, SC since 2001. Clean Car Fax The previous owners used it around the property for over two decades. It stayed stored in the barn with all the tractors and other heavy equipment. The property changed hands a few years ago and the H1 has been sitting in the barn collecting dust. It drove the 30 minutes to our shop and we have taken it out on the road for pictures and video. As a result of the extended storage and farm use, it should be assumed the H1 will require additional mechanical attention before being driven safely on open roads. The H1 Hummer, a civilian adaptation of the military HMMWV "Humvee", caring over many components, event built on the same assembly line at the Mishawaka plant in Mishawaka, IN. The civilian model began in part because of Arnold Schwarzenegger's persistence. While filming "Kindergarten Cop" in Oregon, he saw an Army convoy on Humvee's and fell in love with the model. He began pushing AM General for a civilian version to be available on the market. In 1992, AM General began selling a civilian version, the H1, The first two H1s to be sold were purchased by Schwarzenegger.

Besides it's movie star looks and impressive film appearances, its known for its rugged and unparalleled off-road capabilities, the H1 quickly becoming an icon among off-road enthusiasts and adventurers.

This particular H1 Hummer is currently a project that still embodies the core elements of its military roots with enhancements tailored for civilian use. It features a great drive train combo of a 5.7L L05 V8 engine, in front of a 4L80E GM 4 speed automatic transmission giving you power and a easy platform to build power and service the drive train with, readily available, off the shelf GM parts and knowledge.

The rest of the chassis and underpinnings are stock H1 goodness that allow you to go just about anywhere you want. Tall ground clearance of 16 inches, thats to portal axles and inboard brakes keeping all axles high within the body and under carriage. This also means you can climb 22" steps if you so desired, thanks in part to the approach and departure angles of 72 and 37.5 degrees respectively
