Shown here is a Defender 90 factory built soft top and roll cage which is a documented Eastnor Edition from Land Rover’s famed Special Vehicle Unit. SVU is responsible for building some of the best Landy’s to ever come out of Solihull including the Camel Trophy models. Factory built with the solid and reliable 300TDI 2.5L Turbo Diesel engine and R380 5 Speed manual transmission. The Defender was purchased by Car Cave in Barville-en-Gâtinais from a Monsieur Alain. Monsieur Alain owned the Defender for over 10 years and performed regular maintenance while under his care. He provided us with maintenance records and technical inspections. Please contact us to review these files. France requires all vehicles to go through a rigorous bi-annual technical inspection. This Defender passed the French technical inspection with zero deficiencies on June 21, 2023.

This 1996 Land Rover Defender 90 300TDI is shown with a AA Yellow (paint code 584) exterior featuring silver chequere plate top and black accents. The interior is finished in a combination of black and grey with the seats going further back than the average Defender. The bulkhead behind the front seats has been relocated to the rear of the vehicle allowing more space for anyone require more leg room. The dash features a set of switches controlling the rarely seen power windows. A set of 265/75R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain tires wrap around 5-Spoke 16" Land Rover OEM Alloy Wheels.

The 300TDI diesel engine runs properly and 5-Speed manual transmission shifts correctly through the gears with super smooth operation thanks to a Slick Shift kit installed here at Car Cave. We completed a complete review of the Defender and all systems were found to be functional. Recent maintenance and upgrades performed by Car Cave include front differential gasket, front differential pinion seal, oil pan gasket, engine breather gasket, rear sway bar end links, and stainless steel bulkhead vent pins. Car Cave installed new mats front and back, seats, coin tray (replacement for dash ashtray), lower dash finisher, interior trim, and a new center console. The previous owner recently installed the Exmoor Trim Premium Stayfast Top which cost approximately $3400. Contact us for a complete run down of the mechanics. Here at Car Cave, we regularly drive our inventory and clock an average several hundred test miles on each Defender. Well sorted mechanically and has been taken care of by the previous owner.

Eastnor Edition Land Rovers were all factory built Yellow. The front "A-bar" bull with long-range headlights and logos on the doors and hood were features standard on the Eastnor and still present on the model shown. Factory standard features included the 16" "Freestyle" alloy wheels, 275/75R16 tires, four mud flaps, black fender flares, a spare wheel carrier independent of the rear door, four point roll cage, and reinforcement plates on the front wings. All of the Eastnor model delivered had a removable fiberglass top, side steps, rear step, rear cargo load space with rubber mat, and only available in a two or three seat configuration although these items have now been updated, removed, or changed. Land Rover dealers were selling these new for 129,187 Francs in 1996.
