Shown here is a Defender 90 factory built with a removable hard top and roll cage which is a documented Eastnor Edition from Land Rover’s famed Special Vehicle Unit. SVU is responsible for building some of the best Landy’s to ever come out of Solihull including the Camel Trophy models. Factory built with the solid and reliable 300TDI 2.5L Turbo Diesel engine and R380 5 Speed manual transmission. The Defender was purchased by Car Cave in Noailles, France from a Monsieur Vignal. We bought this Defender because the chassis and body are healthy without most of the rust or rot found on Defenders. Documents show this Defender was sold new in France on March 11, 1997.

This 1996 Land Rover Defender 90 300TDI is shown with a AA Yellow (paint code 584) exterior featuring black chequere plate top and black accents with the soft top, hard top, roll bar, fender flares, grill, mud flaps, and bumpers. The interior is finished in a combination of black and grey, all new rear seats, Exmoor Trim bikini top, and a high top center console. A set of 265/75R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain tires wrap around 5-Spoke 16" Land Rover OEM Alloy Wheels which were standard for the Eastnor model.

The 300TDI diesel engine runs properly and 5-Speed manual transmission shifts through the gears smoothly. We completed a complete review of the Defender and all systems were found to be functional. Recent maintenance and upgrades performed by Car Cave include replacing the door hinges and stainless hardware on all 3 doors, 4 new rear jump seats, center high top console (the high top makes for a great arm rest), injector seals, fuel pump gasket, valve cover gasket, valve adjustment, vacuum pump gasket, oil breather, return fuel line seals, side 300Tdi block cover seals, valve cover seal washers, fuel filter, thermostat gasket, water pump gasket, sway bar bushings, oil change, oil filter, and repair the fog lights. We removed the hard top which is included with the sale and installed a new Exmoor Trim Bikini Top, header rail, and frame for the front driver compartment.

Here at Car Cave, we regularly drive our inventory and clock an average several hundred test miles on each Defender. Well sorted mechanically and has been taken care of by the previous owner. Eastnor Edition Land Rovers were all factory built Yellow. The front "A-bar" bull with long-range headlights were features standard on the Eastnor and still present on the model shown. Factory standard features included the 16" "Freestyle" alloy wheels, 275/75R16 tires (now installed are 265/75R16 BFG All Terrains), four mud flaps, black fender flares, a spare wheel carrier, four point roll cage, and reinforcement plates on the front wings. All of the Eastnor model delivered had a removable fiberglass top, side steps, rear step, rear cargo load space with rubber mat, and only available in a two or three seat configuration although these items have now been updated, removed, or changed. Land Rover dealers were selling these new for 129,187 Francs in 1996.
