This 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is a project rig that is just waiting to be rehomed. Clean title and it runs!
We picked it up about 2 years ago as a parts rig but did not have the heart to tear it apart. The team here at Car Cave got it to run and drive around the property. Powered by a small block 350 V8 with a new Holley carb. It’s a solid candidate for someone ready to take on a restoration or custom build. The bones are there—classic FJ style, a V8 heart, and nicknamed “Swamp Buggy”.
The body shows rust, dents dings, diamond plate, patina, and wear you'd expect from an unrestored FJ40 project, making it a perfect base for anything from a full frame-off restoration to a trail rig. The last time this thing saw the trail was 2015 at Uwharrie in North Carolina (sticker on the windshield). It has front bucket seats, roll bar, 8 spoke white steel wheels, and a rear swing-out tire carrier. The engine bay holds a Chevy 350 small block mated to 4-speed manual transmission. It starts, runs, and moves under its own power, but should be considered a project needing additional work before hitting the road reliably.
Stored at our Aiken, South Carolina facility. Contact us for additional details, pictures, or to schedule a time to check it out in person.
